KIMBERLY WETZEL

Kimberly Wetzel's (she/her) work explores finding home through experiences in nature and the intimacy and solace encouraged in these familiar places. Using gestural marks and abstract patterning, she evokes occurring forms and patterns, like a bird flight formation, with charcoal and pencil. Her work serves as a peaceful process to recall memories and access her past, which was largely spent on a farm in rural North Dakota facing the harsh weather conditions.   

Wetzel obtained her BFA in painting and drawing from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She has participated in several group exhibition shows around the country, and has participated in residencies at Art in Motion, Grand Marais Art Colony, and the Tides Institute.
